- Tell us something about yourself, your background
I was born on the Caribbean Island of Trinidad & Tobago, in a Borough named Point Fortin. I left Trinidad when I was about 18 years old to live with my Dad in St Croix USVI, then I moved to Jacksonville Florida, where I studied Biomedical Engineering Technology at Florida State College at Jacksonville.
- Tell us about the product you invented with a brief explanation
I have invented a Box to protect packages from theft or damage, named Package Pally. It is essentially a large Mailbox for packages. It has the unique feature of being able to attach to the top or bottom of any Door, without any tools. It is Portable, lockable, has a one way drop Box and can come equipped with a Camera, Alarm, Lock & Light.
- How/Why did you start inventing. What set you off?
I started inventing by thinking of solutions to problems. I have always thought about & was intrigued by inventions. What set me off to invent this product was my Amazon Package was stolen off my front Porch, so I decided to invent something so that it won’t happen again.
- How did you get from idea to finished product?
I got from idea to finished product by first sketching some drawings down, then making a Prototype in my Garage with materials that I had available. I then searched online for anything like what I invented but could not find anything. My next move was doing an official Patent Search with a Patent Attorney, to make sure that it was feasible to move ahead with trying to obtain a United States Patent. I have now received a United States Patent. During the time on getting the Patent approved, I got a Trademark, had an official working Prototype made by a company and that is what I used for testing purposes. That finished, ready to market prototype, complete with CAD Drawings, is what I will be replicating to sell to the public.
- Let us know of useful resources that helped you
What helped me was having an inventor’s Notepad, to write down my invention, as well as other inventions that I currently have also. I would just google latest inventions and see what’s new inventions have been made and also when any news story came out of a new invention.
